So let’s say you haven’t upgraded to the whole HBO Now and Commitment and you’re still in the Netflix and Chill stage…you may think you’re golden and on your way, but remember to keep your man or woman you have to woo them with a good movie pick… amongst other things.
If you thought finding a Netflix and Chill partner was the hard part, then you clearly haven’t tried to pick out a movie that both of you will enjoy. Let me tell you nobody – and I really mean nobody – wants to spend twenty minutes looking for the perfect movie only to find out that the movie sucks. If you’re having trouble choosing something to watch during your upcoming Netflix and Chill session, check out these ten movies.
1. The Fast and The Furious
Who doesn’t like a good Fast and Furious movie? Kick it old school and watch the first of the series that came out back in 2001. It’s fun to reminisce and see all the characters fifteen years younger. Plus, the Rock’s not in this one. Another plus, nothing about this movie will make you cry (like I’m sure you did while watching Fast 7).
2. A Trip to the Moon
If you’re looking for a super trippy movie to watch, check out this movie from 1902 (yes, really 1902). I bet you haven’t seen anything like it. If you name drop this movie in conversation, you’ll seem like a film buff. Plus, you and your Netflix and chill partner can bond over how weird it is.
3. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
This movie is the PERFECT romantic comedy. Warning: do not let this movie make you believe that acting like a psycho girl (with a love fern) will actually get you the guy in the end. It definitely won’t. Reasons to watch: Matthew McConaughey, Matthew McConaughey, Matthew McConaughey.
4. Catch Me If You Can
Young Leonardo DiCaprio is the main character. Need I say more? If you still need convincing, young Leo plays a charming con man who is on the run from Tom Hanks, an FBI agent. A plus: it’s based on a true story, so you get a little history lesson while watching Young Leo be beautiful.
If you looking for an animated movie that you probably forgot about, check this one out. If you’ve never seen it, it’s basically like a less intense, funnier version of Avatar, except instead of going to another planet, a group of explorers goes under the sea. This is for a light-hearted, semi-psychedelic Netflix and Chill night.
6. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
A movie that starts off slow but in the end is sure to make you cry…. a lot. If you’re into more serious, intense movies, watch this one. You and your Netflix and chill partner can wipe each other’s tears.
7. Pulp Fiction
Guns, gangsters, nose bleeds. Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, John Travolta. Pulp Fiction is a classic, and you have to see it at least once in your life, so it might as well be during a Netflix and Chill session
8. Alpha Dog
If you’ve never seen this movie, you’re missing out on a great one. Alpha Dog is based on a true story about one of the youngest guys to be on the FBI’s Most Wanted list. He parties a lot. Smokes a lot. Has a lot of fun. But then he kidnaps a young kid and gets way in over his head. A+ movie for a Netflix and Chill night. Oh also, Justin Timberlake is in it.
Artifact is a documentary about Jared Leto and his brother’s band, 30 Seconds to Mars. It’s basically an inside look on the dying, unfair music industry. If you or your Netflix and Chill partner are into music, this is a good one to watch. Another reason to watch it: Jared Leto is in almost every scene.
10. The Giver
The Giver was a new-age book that you probably remember reading in middle school. But a few years ago, they made a movie out of it that nobody watched. Despite its lack of media coverage, it’s a pretty great movie. After watching, you and your Netflix and Chill partner can talk about what you think will happen to humans in the future and get all trippy together.
So there you have it. A movie that will make you cry, a couple that will make you laugh, another that will give you googly eyes for your favorite teenage heartthrob. Top all them off with popcorn, booze, and some sweet treats and you’re good to go.
